RICK ALLRED

Rick Allred with 20 x 24 (Large Format) Polaroid Camera Art is life. Creating is breathing. When I am creating art, I am breathing my life. To cease creating would be, for me, to stop living. Finding beauty in the “ordinary” is what I wish to share with people. I especially thrive on people who believe they are ordinary, and yet will trust my vision. I seldom photograph anyone I haven’t at least shared a cup of coffee with. The experience of sharing time with a subject makes the imagery nearly effortless.

I follow my heart and my gut... I enjoy the visual art world. Also, I find that the soft side and spiritual strength of male beauty is limited and elusive.... I am passionate about translating the images in my mind into real (and/or surreal) life imagery.

Many times nature gives me the light I need. Other times, I utilize the black canvas of night to paint my thoughts upon... Using my flashlight as a paintbrush.

Rick Allred is a free-lance artist specializing in commissioned portraits and creative images. Rick studied Photojournalism at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Upon graduating, he followed his creative drive which eventually brought him to Maui.
